Hello, my name is Nina Medvedeva! I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at Hamilton College. My research explores what short-term rental regulation debates can teach us about how city residents imagine and govern the home.
Focusing on the Airbnb debates in Boston, Washington D.C., and San Francisco, my dissertation draws on feminist political economy, queer of color critique, economic anthropology, and critical urban studies to analyze how city residents make claims that challenge, enforce, or change the hegemonic definition of home.
