Hello, my name is Nina Medvedeva! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Winona State University. My research explores what short-term rental regulation debates can teach us about how city residents imagine and govern the home.
Focusing on the Airbnb debates in Boston, Washington D.C., and San Francisco, my book draws on feminist political economy, queer of color critique, economic anthropology, and critical urban studies to analyze how city residents make claims that challenge, enforce, or change the hegemonic definition of home.
I teach classes in feminist theory, social movements, LGBTQ+ studies, and science and technology studies.
